US Premiere in Sacramento Friday, Nov. 9

Greetings All!

I am excited to let you know that Jitazax will deliver US premiere of my Liminal Spaces (2018) right here in SacTown, this coming Friday, as part of their US Debut performance @ Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

Having recently wrapped up an international tour beginning in China and ending at the World Saxophone Congress in Croatia, JitaZax (Rhett Bender, saxophone & Wenjun Qi, guitar) will give their U.S. debut at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, right here in SacTown. Over the last year, JitaZax has been collaborating with local, regional, and international composers to build their own personalized, eclectic repertoire. Leading up to their dates in Croatia (where they gave the world premiere of my piece), Wenjun and Bender toured extensively in China, performing concerts and delivering master classes in Hangzhou, Zhenzhou, Shaoxing, Hai’an, Beijing, Fangshan, Shijiazhuang, and Chengdu.

I am so thrilled that I've had the opportunity to work again with my esteemed colleague, Rhett Bender, for whom I composed and with whom performed during my UGA days. Jitazax's program spans a gamut of music of five centuries and six countries: Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992), John Dowland (1563-1626), Béla Bartók (1881-1946), J.S. Bach (1685-1750), Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959), & José Luis Merlin (b. 1952). It's going to be one heck'of'a concert! Hope to see you there, Friday, next week @ 7:30.
